Shopify fulfilment in Europe: what to look for

Practical questions for reviewing a European fulfilment setup for Shopify orders, stock, exceptions and returns.

Map the complete order flow

Shopify integration is available.

Before onboarding, map what should happen from a customer placing an order through to the warehouse receiving the order data, selecting stock, preparing the parcel and recording dispatch. Include cancellations, address changes and other exceptions rather than reviewing only the normal path.

Confirm which Shopify data is required, how product and order identifiers are matched, when stock updates are exchanged and who investigates an order that does not enter the agreed workflow.

  • Store, market and currency configuration
  • SKU and variant identifiers
  • Order holds, edits and cancellation rules
  • Stock-status and dispatch updates
  • Responsibility for exception handling

Review the physical operation

A channel connection is only one part of fulfilment. Review the physical product, inbound stock process, packaging instructions, parcel profile, destination mix and return requirements at the same time.

Vareya is generally best suited to brands shipping 500 or more orders per month.

Returns handling is available. Contact Vareya to discuss the required returns process.

Product fit is confirmed during qualification. Share any unusual product or handling requirement before stock is sent to the warehouse.

Agree an onboarding check before launch

Write down the agreed data flow and physical workflow, then use a controlled set of representative orders to check identifiers, stock allocation, dispatch updates and exceptions. The objective is to discover missing rules before normal order processing begins.

Keep named owners on both sides for catalogue data, inbound coordination and order exceptions. After launch, review exceptions and stock discrepancies against the agreed process so that changes are deliberate and traceable.

For a Vareya review, include the Shopify store setup, recent order profile, SKU data, target markets and required start window in the fulfilment scan.

The EU parcel levy: what the new rules mean for ecommerce brands

Since 1 July 2026 every small parcel entering the EU carries a levy per product category. Here is what that actually means for a shop.

Cross-border

Shipping small parcels from Asia is changing: why brands are moving stock into Europe

When every parcel from outside the EU carries a levy, the economics of shipping from Asia change. Stock inside Europe changes them back.

Shipping & delivery

How EU-based fulfilment keeps your delivery promise when import rules tighten

Import levies are one cost. Broken delivery promises are another. Stock inside the EU protects the promise.

Shipping to the EU from the US: what the parcel levy changes

American brands have long shipped parcels across the Atlantic. The EU parcel levy changes the maths of that route.

UK brands

UK brands and the EU parcel levy: what changed again

UK brands already cross a customs border for EU orders. The parcel levy adds another layer — unless the stock sits inside the EU.

Ecommerce returns from Europe: how a returns centre actually works

Returns are the part of ecommerce nobody sees in the sales dashboard — until they become a problem. Here is how a European returns process actually works.

A UK brand's own GB EORI number does not carry over to the EU import leg — here is what covers each side of the border.

UK brands

Does the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement remove customs duty on UK-origin stock into the EU?

Tariff-free access under the TCA is not automatic. It depends on where a product's components and manufacturing actually originate, and on proving that with documentation.

US brands

Schedule B and AES filing: what US brands need before shipping stock to an EU warehouse

Exporting stock from the US is a formal, classified process before it ever reaches the EU border — here is what that involves.

The EU-US trade framework, in force since July 2026: what it means for US brands' EU-bound stock

A US brand assuming standard EU import duty applies to its stock may be working from outdated information. The EU-US framework changed that picture for many industrial goods in mid-2026.
