UK brands and the EU parcel levy: what changed again
How the EU parcel levy stacks on top of post-Brexit customs for UK brands selling into Europe, and why EU stock solves both.
Two borders, two costs
Since Brexit, UK brands shipping into the EU already handle customs on every order. The EU parcel levy, in force since 1 July 2026, adds 3 euro per product category on small parcels entering the EU from outside it.
For a UK brand, that means every parcel to an EU customer now carries both customs handling and the levy — on top of the shipping itself.
One move removes both
Stock held inside the EU removes both layers at parcel level. Orders ship from the warehouse to the customer without crossing an external EU border.
The inbound leg happens once — when stock is sent to the European warehouse — instead of on every single order.
What Vareya offers UK brands
Vareya operates from a warehouse in Breda, the Netherlands, and ships across Europe. Shopify integration is available, fully connected to ShipHero as the warehouse management system.
Customs clearance support is available for shipments into and out of Europe, including the inbound leg from the UK.
Vareya's shipping system can automatically select an appropriate carrier for each shipment, based on destination and parcel characteristics. PostNL is Vareya's main carrier for shipments within the Netherlands, with DHL, Asendia, FedEx and Royal Mail in the carrier network for other routes.
